Types & Sizes

Commercial flagpoles are available in a variety of configurations to suit your building or site..

Ground-Set Flagpoles

These are the most common commercial flagpoles—a one-piece (or occasionally multi-piece) tapered aluminum or steel pole anchored into a concrete foundation with a ground sleeve. They’re designed to provide strength, stability, and elegance in high-visibility spaces like parks, schools, and civic entrances. Typical heights range from 20 to 50 feet or more, depending on visibility and wind requirements.

Wall-mounted & Angled Flagpoles

Smaller flagpoles can also be mounted to building façades with heavy-duty brackets and fittings. Ideal for retail storefronts or historical buildings, these systems allow you to fly a flag at an angle without occupying ground space. They use thicker, more durable components than typical residential flag kits.

Materials & Finishes

Commercial flagpoles are most commonly fabricated from high-tensile aluminum, which resists corrosion, performs well in all climates, and offers minimal maintenance over time. For taller or specialty applications, galvanized or stainless steel flagpoles are available to ensure strength and rigidity.

Finishes include satin-brushed aluminum, anodized finishes (clear, bronze, or black), and custom powder-coating for architectural color matching. Whether you want a polished, traditional look or a bold modern accent, Goodwin‑Cole can tailor the finish to your branding or site design.

Halyard Systems

These use a visible rope system with a cleat near the base of the pole. They’re cost-effective, simple to operate, and easy to service. However, the rope is exposed to the elements and may invite tampering in high-traffic or public areas.

For a cleaner, more secure option, the rope or stainless-steel cable runs inside the pole and is accessed through a locking hatch at the base. Operated by internal cam cleats or crank winches, this system prevents theft and keeps the flag quiet in the wind—ideal for schools, courtyards, government buildings, and corporate campuses.

Flagpole Installation

Installing a commercial flagpole requires proper planning and professional execution. Goodwin‑Cole provides complete site evaluation and installation services, including:

  • Engineered concrete foundations to anchor ground-set poles safely and permanently.
  • Tilt-base or hinged base plates (where applicable) for easier lowering of very tall poles for maintenance.
  • Clearance planning to avoid overhead obstructions and ensure the flag has room to fly freely.

Our team ensures every pole is installed to manufacturer specs and local guidelines for long-term safety and performance.
